There is also a stunning lighthouse built in 1926 that looks like it was taken straight out of a novel.

2.  Explore Abalone Cove

The wondrous natural beauty of this area will take your breath away as you take in the coves, caves, tide pools, and picnic areas. There is a wonderful beach here that has lifeguards on weekends and during summer months and the shoreline park and ecological reserve protect the animals and marine life within the park.

3.  Traverse A Trail

One of the most popular activities in Rancho Palos Altos is hiking. There are many safe trails to explore and enjoy including those in the Abalone Cove trail, Terrenea Discovery Trail, Del Cerro Park, McBride Trail, and the Ocean Trails Reserve.

4.  Go Golfing

Above the cliffs of Rancho Palos Altos lies a golf course with some of the most beautiful views available. This is the Los Verdes Golf Course. Additionally, there is also the Trump national golf club which is renowned as one of the top public golf courses in the south of California. Either way, Rancho Palos Verdes is a golfer’s dream.

5.  Tour The Nature Center

The Deane Dana Friendship Park and Nature Center have picnic areas, hiking trails, large open spaces, and great views of Long Beach Harbor. The star of the show however is the natural history museum where you can have an educational experience, meet live animals and use the nature center facilities to enjoy birdwatching, crafting classes and other events.
